The JammASD V3 is a reference interface board designed to connect a PC (or a MiSTer FPGA system) to a JAMMA-standard arcade cabinet. It acts as a hardware bridge to transmit video signals, audio, and player controls.
   
Controls & Inputs
  • USB Keyboard Emulation: The board is recognized by the PC as a standard USB keyboard. Joystick movements and button presses are instantly translated into keystrokes.
  • Software Compatibility: Natively compatible with many emulation operating systems such as Batocera, as well as classic setups on Windows or DOS.
  • Lightgun Extension: Features a dedicated port allowing the connection of optical lightguns.
 
Video Signal & Protection
  • Input Connector: Standard SubD15 (VGA) port to receive the signal from the PC.
  • No Frequency Conversion: The board does not convert the video signal to 15 kHz. The signal sent by the PC must already be configured to the correct frequency via a dedicated driver or software (such as CRT Emudriver, soft15Khz, or GroovyMAME).
  • Monitor Protection Filter: It integrates an essential safety system that blocks dangerously high frequencies (like the native 31 kHz from a PC during boot-up) to protect the original CRT monitor of your arcade cabinet from electrical damage.
 
Audio
  • Audio Input: 3.5 mm female jack port to collect the audio output from the PC's motherboard or sound card.
  • Built-in Amplifier: Features an adjustable audio amplifier directly on the PCB.
  • Audio Modes: Allows you to switch between mono or stereo sound rendering depending on your cabinet's wiring and speaker setup.
 
Connectivity & Power
  • Power and Data: Connects to the PC via a Mini-B USB port (unlike the older V2 version which relied on bulky PS/2 ports).
  • Form Factor: Bare PCB design, supplied with plastic mounting feet to isolate it from the cabinet structure.
